HVAC fan speed is changing when it shouldn't V70-XC70

I have a '99 XC (98k miles)...the climate control has always worked well.

Just in the last couple weeks, the fan speed seems to be varying quite a bit when it shouldn't be.

Strangely, it seems to have something to do with vehicle speed...but not always...I'm still trying to figure out what, if anything in particular, is making the fan speed change.

Also, I'd always run the HVAC with the fan set to "AUT"....just yesterday I tried to set the fan speed manually...I thought it would stay exactly at that set speed...but when I changed the temp setting, the fan speed would change as well...maybe that's normal, but I wasn't expecting it.

ANy thoughts?

Thanks...
