aftermarket cd player vs. 816 850

I am looking for advice about upgrading my 810 to a cd player. I am not picky about car stereos. I once had a volkswagon with loose speaker wires and every time I hit a bump, a different speaker would come on or go off. It didn't bother me, and it was like that until it drove my dad crazy. I do really, really like the sound of the 810. But, my old 245 had a really nice Alpine cd player, with the adjustable face plate, and only two speakers. I know Alpine made the head unit, so that's cool. But, is the 816 very reliable? I usually listen to the same cd over and over for about a hundred years, so I only need a single player. Any advice?
