Tire care questions 850 1997

Question 1:

Well the heat and humidity really got to me today. I went and rotated my tires as if I was doing a rwd. Brought the rears up front and crossed the front to the back. Opps... Duhh..
Anyhow any opinions on a x pattern rotation. I would then only need to cross the front tires left to right. Is this any better or any worse than the correct modified fwd x rotation?

Question 2:

Prior to my rotation fun…
These are 5000 mile new Michelin MXV 4 plus 195/60 15's. Kept them at 38 psi. I had an alignment done when the tires were first put on. Now front tires have some wear where the tread meets the outside sidewall and a sawtooth to the outer tread blocks. The car tracks straight and does not pull so the wear is the same on both tires. The rears are in great shape. Is this a hard cornering issue or and alignment issue.
