learned this trick in my old honda which has NO cupholders (it was a 89), put something like a kleenex box on the passanger seat and wedge the cup between where the side and back meet. Not great but it does work especially on cars with no cupholders at all, or when the cup doesnt fit. Also helps to have something that can absorb below the cup.
