1994 850 wagon - Thoule roof rack question / door panel removal 850 1994

I have the Thoule (sp) roof rack mounted but am noticing that the "seal" is cracking in various places. The "seal" feels like a hard plastic and it has cracked in several spots, leaving a piece still connected on one end but not the other. Is there anything I can do to seal or glue the "seal" pieces so they just don't hang there?
I know it's probably hard to visualize the issue I am having but if you have a Volvo with the roof rack you probably have an idea of what I'm talking about.

Anybody have a link or some direction in removing the door panel? I fear that my door handle mount (screws or nut) is loosening and if I don't tighten it soon the handle will most likely fall off....
