Preventive Maintenance 850

The drive belt should be changed at 60,000 miles (15-30 minute job), according to the owner's manual. The alternators and starters last a good while. I have only replaced one alternator* and none of the starters on our 850's. Our current mileages are (93) 132,000 miles, (95*)170,000 miles and (95T)130,000 miles.

The changing of the timing belt is probably the most critical part to replace, next to the oil and filter. The owner's manual recommends that it be changed at 70,000 miles (about a 2-3 hour job - tight work area). I usually change both belts at the same time.

Good luck.
