Strange..... S80

Frank
I finally got the car back. A & C Transmission shop in Edmonton, AB Canada figured out what was wrong. The battery cable running near the speed sensor was interferring with the speed sensor. The transmission shop moved the battery cable completely away from the sensor & with a jumper tried it & it started every time. The transmission shop found a Volvo warning from AllDATA online. It warned about this happening but recommended moving it just a little. The independent Volvo shop I think had this info because they looked at the cable but moving it as much as was recommended did not help. I dropped it at the transmission shop for one last look before taking it back to the dealer for a wire harness change, it had been 3 weeks, the dealer gave up & the private shop made no progress, they at least found out many things it was not. The dealer was very dissappointed that I did not let him change the transmission. I think he had it in his mind that they messed up. They had not run the wires back exactly like they were before. Anglo Canadian Motors moved the wires back how they wanted them & the starting problem got worse. The dealership desk person in service told me the transmission shop installed the transmission horizontally instead of transverse (or vice versa, it has been 3 weeks). That was BS. They had a list of 28 things they said the transmission shop did wrong. The transmission guy & head of service met the next day & went through the list. They had left out a bolt connecting it to the firewall, & the wires were routed a little different. Everything else was BS. In a totally different problem a side moulding was peeling off. I scheduled to change it before the transmission acted up. The dealership charged me for changing it but did not change it. John Salt, director of service, told me he did find the molding in the shop so evidently it was not changed, as I had alledged. Sandy Lane Automotive was started by a Volvo tech who went private. They had the car 2 weeks trying to find the problem & did not charge me anything because they could not find the problem. I will let Anglo Canadian Volvo change the moulding, since I have already paid for it. I think all furthur work here I will bring to Sandy Lane. I have no trust in Anglo Canadian Motors. Thank you for your input. Sandy Jones
