H - E - L -P ! S70 Problems with Check Engine Codes / transmission S70 1998

1998 S70 is giving transmission fault code for PNP switch. I have changed it twice so far, along with the transmission computer, the microswitches, checked all grounds, adjusted the shift cable, aligned all shift components, replaced the console switches for E,S,W and not yet found the problem. The local dealer has tried as well as an independent repair shop and both have thrown up their hands with no ideas as to what is causing the problem. The dealer suggested changing out the wiring harness to the tune of $2000.00 plus labor. I am looking for some way of determining the cause of the code without having to spend another $2000.00 for a wiring harness that may not fix the problem either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
