Help again... timing belt gone. C70 1999

Hello,

Once again, I need help. My '99 C70 has just had a major malfunction in which the timing belt snapped. I am currently at 97 thousand miles. I know that prior to '99 (or perhaps some '98) 70-series the recommended timing belt interval change was around 70K miles. I am very upset about the fact that I ALWAYS take my car to the dealership and they did not recommend the timing belt change but stated that it would be okay to 105K miles. Now I am stuck with a 3,500 to 4,500 dollar repair. I am planning on calling VNA to complain and see if they will pick up part of the tab. However, I was curious if this has happened to other people. This is my family's third Volvo and has been beset by reliability problems. Anyway, any advice on this, or what else I should replace as I am having the engine basically rebuilt would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.
Sincerely,
Bret M. Binder
