Help again... timing belt gone. C70 1999

Bret,

I've never been told that you should wait to replace a timing belt or that it would last until 105K! Maybe it's different on the C70, but I've never heard of it. If the change interval is listed in the owners manual and it says 105,000K, then Volvo will have to fix it...free. This happened to a friend of mine and there was little resistance from Volvo. They know the limits of their belts.

The 5 cylinder motor timing belt is a 70,000 mile change...period. It is on the 850...fyi.
If the C70 is 70,000K intervals, chances are that those same mechanics who told you to wait, will never confess that they told you any such thing. Did you check any of your past repair bills for "Recommended Service?" They may have made a notation and you didn't notice. That's really all they have to do, but any quality dealership should have really stressed the fact that it could break at any time after 70,000.

I don't think they're gonna be real sympathetic to your bend rods and lifters if it was 70,000.
