Cooling Fan Runs Non-stop... V70-XC70 1998

Need some help here!

'98 V70XC; wife pulls into the driveway after a five mile (from cold start) drive, after engine shutdown, the cooling fan remained on for a VERY long time. She announced that the check engine light was on. I checked with my scanner and found a code PO116 (generic), Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Range/Performance Problem.

I pulled the fuse for the fan to kill it. Ohms check on Coolant Temp Sensor reads fine.

Any thoughts?? Anyone with a similar/same drivability concern?

Thanks in advance.
