98 v70 V70-XC70

Well, my '98 V70 wagon has 125,000 miles, it's currently apart because it was hit by a large chunk of loose truck tire on I-78. I don't plan to get rid of it, yet, and I don't think I'm crazy. Or rather I'm sure I am crazy, but this isn't a part of it. Safe, it is. And I KNOW it's history. So it goes to my daughter to replace her '88 Merc wagon next.

The main $$$ problems with the 850-70 Volvo are things like the AC evaporator, air pump, ABS module. The drivetrain itself is fairly durable. The problem with buying these cars used is that there are a lot of $$$ and $$$$ problems that can give subtile warnings but aren't obvious to the uninitiated.

So look for the service history and DO get it checked out BEFORE YOU BUY IT by a good Volvo shop. Off the top of my head I'd suggest Rawbear Performance in Clifton NJ (I'm guessing you're in the NYC area by your e-mail.) A Volvo shop should usually see several problems that would allow you to shave some $$$ off the price. Allow them a couple hours of labor for a thorough check. To say this again, get it checked out, I can't overemphasize the importance of this.
