another ECU question... S80 2000

Yes, the CPU for the S80 has to be sent to IPD. Other cars (ie. 850, S70) can just do a swap, but since the S0 has the CPU serial numbers matched with the car (or something like that) the CPU must be sent to them. According to them, the whole process takes about three days in their hands. As for the warranty, IPD says that it may not void the warranty, but in case of major powertrain failure, Volvo may blame the IPD upgrade and then the warranty would be void. To answer your question safely, I would say that good chance that it will void the warranty. Luckily (in a way), I have 52,XXX miles on the car and don't have to worry about that anymore.
