How to swap Temp Sensors 850 1996

I have been doing some troubleshooting in my 96 850, and I would like to swap the temperature sensors on the drivers and passenger side (the ones near the grab handles in the celing). I have taken the caps off and see the thermocouples in there, but don't know how to actually take them out. The Haynes manual is less-than-helpful. has anyone dealt with these sensors? any idea on how to remove them?
