Trip Computer (after the fact) C70 1999

I just purchased an awesome 99 C70 that has all option except for the trip computer. I was curious if it was possible to add the computer after the fact? Obviously the blank is on the dashboard (I HATE having blanks on my dashboard, makes me feel like I am missing out on something) but I am not aware of how integrated the trip computer is to the volvo computer architecture.

I've ordered a complete set of shop manuals but I hate waiting. :P :)

Any ideas? or is this a lost cause?
