doesn't run so well S70

I have had an s70 for about 3 years now (1998 model) and I'm happy to say that my next car will be a Honda. My wife and I owned a total of 8 Acuras over the past 10 years and this 1 Volvo has cost me more in time and repairs than all 8 of the Acuras.

Nevertheless, my current problem goes this way. My Volvo will not run when it rains but, up until recently, would run fairly well when it was dry. Now, it starts off OK and then acts as though it is losing power. If I hold the accelerator all the way to the floor it will go which suggests that it is getting sufficient fuel from the fuel pump. The other day, I had to hold about 80 mph on my way to work to keep it running. (luckily, I was on the interstate and didn't irritate any cops. Besides what kind of nut drives a Volvo s70 at high speeds?) I wonder if the ignition coil could be at fault. If anyone has any ideas, please respond. This thing is nickel-and-diming me to death where I am re-learning how to fix my car. I can't afford all the repairs.

Thanks.
