Cruise control cuts out when wet 850 1995

When my '95 850 Turbo gets wet, especially in a car wash but sometimes even in a rainshower, the cruise control often won't work for 15-20 minutes afterwards, sometimes longer. Then suddenly, it will start responding again. I assume something in the system is getting wet and when it dries out, it works again. Any thoughts?
