white residue/discolored bumper upper plastic pieces 850

Hi...

I am sure others have experienced the same phenomenon as I have - The upper part of the 850R's bumpers are gray plastic, and I have noticed that since I bought it, they have changed in color - worse in some locations than others - they have become somewhat whiter in color, and I can scratch the white residue off with my fingernail or plastic brillo-type pad (which I did in a couple locations to make my point...look at this picture below (of my spoiler damage), look in the bottom pic of the two - you can see a darker area on the gray plastic piece in the middle of the bumper, that is where i lightly scuffed some of the residue off. What is this stuff, and what's a proper way to remove it? I don't want to hurt my bumpers, so I can' t imagine the plastic dishwashing rough pad is the answer...

Oh and the insurance company will be having my new front spoiler installed on the 14th after my little run-in with flying road debris...
