850R Purchased WOW!! but Tailgate rattle & Interior Fan & others 850 1996

Hi there

Firstly a big thank you to the birckboard and the readers who with the knowledge available persuaded me to join the Volvo family. We have a new(to us)1996 850R with 145000 km on the clock. She goes like hell and we are delighted with her. We have a couple of niggles\questions though.

1.The rear tailgate rattles. I have learnt that this is a fairly common problem. Are the spares to fix the problem as shown on bay13 availble from a Volvo dealer? Two dealers I have spoken to hear in SA have no idea of what I am talking about!

2.The interior fans squeaks. I had a company try and lubricate the fan for me. It seemed to work for a while but on colder days it still plays up. Does anyone know if elctric motor rebuilders will rebuld this motor for me. Do they normaally work on these type of motors?

3 A strange almost turbine like sound occurs first thing in the morning. The noise decreases as the motor warms and then goes away completely when she has reached operating temperature. The sound pitch is linked to engine revolutions and not to the interior fan.

4. The boost guage. What is the turbo situation with regard to boost in the varius zones. When the gauge is in the middle is boost been made and if so how much. How much boost does 7/8 indicate? This is how is indicated at full throttle.
