Brake lights stopped working 850 1997

Hi, Mike:

Thanks for the very helpful info. I did go under the dash and found that switch you told me about. That's indeed the culprit, since when I messed with it while still connected, the brake lights worked again for a minute or two. The only problem is, how do I get it out? I can't seem to get it off the wires to which it's connected without risk of damaging something else. Any pointers? I ordered a new one for $32. Do I need to get instructions or will I be able to replace it easily? I am not too experienced with DIY jobs (but need to get up to speed now that my car''s off warranty!!)

Thanks, Vojo
