Have one ever remove (Engine check light bulb} Smog check question... 850 1994

Most of us know that sometime we have the problem with the (ENGINE) check light it keep stay on even when there is nothing wrong with the car ..

Some people put a piece of black tape over it...

I want to know ?? What happend if I remove the (ENGINE chek light the buld)

would the car still run fine ??? and it pass smoke check ??

What happend here is if the light stay on you can not get it to pass smog check //// thank for all input..

I know I can clear the light but it will come back within few hours...
