Using a headset with my S80 Integrated Phones system S80 2003

I recently purchased an S80 with an integrated phone system. The quality of the handsfree speaker and microphone are simply terrible: the listener hears too much road noise - and the scar peaker cuts out due to poor noise cancellling. To make things worse - the handset is illegal to use in many states.

What I would like is to plug my headset into the handset - but alas, there is no plug!

Anyone have any suggestions for how I might get my handset modified to support using my headset so I can actually use this phone?
