What's faster a non-turbo 5 speed or a turbo automatic? 850

I've got some experience with the 240 turbos and the turbo stick is the fastest.

In fact, I'd venture to say that the 240 5 speed n/a 2.3 liter is just as fast as the 240 automatic turbo 2.1 liter.

My friend wants to get himself an 850 but wants the 850 turbo which came with the automatic only. I'm telling him the non-turbo 5 speed will probably be just as fast if not faster.

What say you?
