How about "a rattling, knocking kind of sound, sort of?" :)

It certainly sounds like we're talking about the same thing. Locate your sway bar end links and try to move them. (You may want to do this with the suspension unloaded -- off the ground, and wheels off.) The end link joints shouldn't have any play in them.
