Dashboard Speaker Replacement 850 1997

What's wrong with them? When I bought our 850 wagon used one of them didn't work and so I carefully took the mesh cover off (do this with a flat head screw driver, very carefully, not to bend the mesh too much) and looked inside. After I unscrewed the tweeter from the plastic retainer piece I noticed that the magnet had fallen off of the speaker. I used a long piece of metal to fish it out of the hole, then used some ceramic/metal cement to glue it back and the tweeter worked flawlessly until I sold the car this past summer. It seems that the glue used to hold the magnet on the back of these speakers deteriorate over time. If you have the same problem (that's unless the speakers just don't work anymore...all torn around the surround, etc.) you can try what I did. You can also go to the dealer and buy OEM speaker replacements, but I think you'll pay $35 to $45 a piece for these.
