HELP! My 850 2 litre 20 valve keeps cutting out. 850 1993

My 850 2 litre 20 valve engine cuts out every now and then. It usually only happens when the tank is less that 1/4 full or shortly after a fill up. It literally dies (it's not particular about when either, sometimes I'm moving, sometimes stopped) but then restarts after about 30 seconds.

I thought it may have something to do with dirt in the tank but really don't have the time to remove the fuel pump and tank to investigate.

Does anyone have any other ideas as to what it may be and if so, do you have a possible solution?

I'm thinking of buying a T5 anyway because the 2 litre is way under powered. Does anyone with a T5 have any tips on buying one?
