tires, 225-50-17 94V, for 2000 S80 T6, 53K mi S80 2000

Hi;

It's time to replace my O.E. Michelin Pilot MXM4 tires. I thought the tire wear was great, with the regular rotations. The traction and cornering in dry and wet weather was great.

In winter conditions, I felt unsafe with them. However in this part of Maryland, there are not that many days when the roads are covered with snow or slush.

After searching for replacement tires, I am considering two tires (many brands do not make a quality tire in the size required),

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 94W,
and
Continental ContiTouring CV95 94VR,
both are All-Season tires.

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 94W would be $220/tire including mounting and balancing. It has the best reviews in every category but is very expensive.

The Continental is $141 at tirerack, not including shipping and mounting, is in the same category as the MXM4's, and has good reviews. It is considered by the reviewers at tirerack.com to be considerably better than the MXM4 tires. It's snow traction rating is much better than the MXM4 snow rating but not as good as the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 94W.

Since I was so pleased with the MXM4's, except for winter performance, and since the Continentals are in the same category as the MXM4's with a better snow rating, why should I pay the extra money for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 94Wtires?

What would you do?

Thanks
Rich
