C70 Convertible: Top light stays on, bell rings C70

Hi:
i have a 1999 C70 convertible. yesterday the light on the button to raise the convertible top came up and a bell started ringing - once per second - as i was driving.

if i put the top down the sounds stops and the light goes off.

when i put the top up, when it gets to the end of the cycle where it locks the top, the windows do NOT come up as usual. if i press the "top up" button again, the windows come down, instead of up.
