V70 XC and the Britax car seat Versa-tether S40 2000

My first 2000 Volvo V70 was totalled when it was rear-ended at about 40 MPH. The car worked as designed and everyone is ok, even the dog who was in the back behind the steel cargo cage (A great investment). I bought a 2000 V70 XC and a new Britax Marathon seat for my nine-month old. I spent a couple hours wrestling with all of the Volvo/Britax problems. (Base covers the curbside belt receptor in center position. Rear-facing behind the seat requires the front seat to move way up. I can live with those for next few months until I turn the seat around.) My main question is does anyone have any suggestions of where I can attach the versa-thether. In the rear-facing position this tether attaches at the head of the car seat to an anchor position on the floor. It positions the seat at the desired 45-degree angle and imensly improves the secureness of the seat beyond the using the shoulder belt alone. The car seat manual suggest the post of the front seat, but there is nothing to get a strap around.

Secondary Question. My XC has the built in booster seat. Any thought regarding whether the built-in booster with 3-point seat belt is safer that the car seat with the 5-point harness.

Thanks to all.
