ac blower resistor 850

I just replaced the blower resistor on my 1994 850 (172,000 miles). It worked for a few days and then quit. So, now I don't have any air coming out when I turn on the first three levels of my ac. I called the online company that sold me the part and they sent another one. Now, my mechanic is talking like the problem is the blower motor. He tested the motor and it was pulling more than 10 amps, he said. He didn't know if that was too much. Has anyone had this problem before I spend another $200 for a blower motor. How much should it be pulling? The new resistor is working but I can't afford for it to stop in a couple of days. It is hot here in the Sunshine State.
