94 850 (non turbo Canadian model) problems - cam sensor or something else?? 850

I'm having some trouble with my 850 that we think may be cam sensor.Have done all the injection cleaning (motorvac) etc, and regular tune up type stuff

Mine just quits for no apparent reason, and it then is hard to start, and sometimes won't. After it cools of for a while it will usually eventually go. Also smells bad when this happens. I've also had instances where it revs up to 3000 rpms or so without the accelerator peddle being touched, which is a bit scary. I've travelled a few miles wiothout touching the gas when this happens. I've seen a post with similar problems as well, but no fixes as yet.

Any info might be helpful.
