Buying an 850

How ya doing?
We want to buy an 850 - mid 1990's - before Ford got a hold of Volvo. We've done the 240's, 740's, and 940's. We want to stick with Volvo and get something good for the snow. Is it just as reliable as the others? My other half is a real Mr. Fix-it. Is the 850 tough to work on? "Mr. Fix-it" replaced a heater motor in a 240 so he's willing to tackle just about anything but is the 850 tough to maintain?
