Engine RPM at idle S70 1999

Our 99 S70 idles just under 1000rpm which seems a bit fast. Dealer over the last few inspections says it's OK . Car is coming up 70,000km and is otherwise great. Tach's arenot accurate but the car strains against the brakes a bit more than I like. What is the usual idle rpm for the non-turbo 5?
