Drive Axle Misfit -> Bearing Failure? 850 1996

I recently replaced my right side drive axle with a rebuilt because of a torn CV boot.

The axle I got was mail order. This is my second one (did the other side 6 mos ago), so I pretty much assumed they sent the right part.

When I got the old one out, I compared it to the one in the box.

The rebuilt axle overall length looked good, but the wheel end was different. The splines were slightly shorter length, and the threads (though not the nut) were smaller diameter.

Is this rebuilt incompatible with a 1996 turbo? I.e. from a 93 or non-turbo volvo?

If so, could this have caused the bearing to fail?

If it is incompatible I'll change the axle out when I replace the bearing.

Thanks,
