dashboard 850 vs s70

I drive an S70. My wife drives a 850. I prefer the S70. The
850 is more like earlier Volvos and 200 series fans would probably
prefer it. Basically, it is a matter of taste -- both are well done.

The 850s do have a problem of the passenger air bag cover de-laminating.
The felt cloth on the sunroof also comes off and a carpet wear spot
can be seen on the drivers side near the right front of the seat (there
is a piece of platsic under there with a bit of an edge).

The S70 door panel problems is limited to some of the 1998 year production.
I've never had the roblem on my early build 1998 (it was built in Jan
of 1997 and sold in April of 1997). S70s also have some
proiblems with interior switches and some of the early ones leaked a lot
of cold air around the handle (gaskets were introduced to seal this
off). Door lock mechanisims are also an issue.

I would not choose one car over the other based on the dash or interior.
Drive both. The bigget difference is that the 70 series has a much less
harsh ride and (for me) it is the biggest difference between the two.
