At 72k the transmission went on this car. The car was drivable. It just shifted funny every now and then. The dealer could not explain why the transmission went. He stated that is was a sealed transmission and that you never change the transmission fluid. You said you just fried your transmission. This car had received regular maintenance from the same dealer. There had been other problems with the car as well. Any and all repairs were made immediately. At 68k the throttlebody went. AT 62k the compressor went. Plus the car visits the dealer about every 6 weeks for oil changes. At all of these points diagnostics were done and no transmission problems were detected. I know one person with a 2000 v70 wagon and their transmission was replaced with less than 50k miles on the car.
Who else has had transmission failures with a well maintained car and relatively lower mileage? Did Volvo support their product and replace the failed transmission?
