transmission slipping 850

The transmission in my 93 started acting up over the weekend. After driving around 25 miles the car will barely move, if you park it and let it set for a while you can get about another 20 miles or so out of it before it starts to act up again. It takes forever for it to shift into the next gear and the RPM's get a little on the high side. The winter mode light flashed at the onset of this problem but went out after it sat overnight. I was able to get it to my regular mechanic who did what he could to dx the problem but said I would have to take it to the dealer. He did say that the transmission is slipping. Here is my question...if the transmission is shot does anyone have any ideas as to the price to rebuild/replace ???? I know it will be different depending on where the car is located but just an idea would be helpful.
