I just finished installing the magnefine filters in my 2000 S70 and 1993 240. I was hesitating to go with these filters, since I was worried that they would someday not be available. However, in thinking about it I decided that it would be easy enough to replace the line or splice in a new section in the unlikely event that happened. The filters seemed to be getting enough praise to make it worth the trouble.
The installation on the S70 was straightforward and involved cutting some sections out of the Trans and PS return lines to install the filter. The trans filter line was a little tight to get to, but removing the intake duct helped a bit.
The 240 installation was a little more difficult. On the 240, I used my dremel tool to take out a section of the metal line and install the filter. No real problem. The PS was more diffult on this car...it was just really tight getting to the line. I ended up cutting it too short at 1am last night and had to do a run to the auto parts store this morning. On this car the return line goes into the bottom of the sump, so it all drained out on the garage floor to boot ... duh. In retrosect I should have just removed the whole line from the car to work on it.
The PS and Tranny seems smoother now, although that could be the placebo effect. My wife called me sounding concerned that she couldn't feel the tranny shift as much anymore...but maybe she was messin' with me :-)
