For the din cables, I wound up a couple of times buying an amp I didn't really need in order to get the cable, around $25-30 total. Also wound up having a couple of special-application cables made for me at the local TV repair shop, after I got tired of burning my fingers messing up the soldering job. On the harnesses, I haven't done any good at all on the used market, and wound up buying the component parts from the Volvo dealer and making my own for the SC 901 installation ( a rather odd application for which there wasn't a factory harness anyway). If you are comfortable soldering annoyingly small bits of wire in tight locations, you can make your own din cables--I don't presently have access to the computer with the info on the suppliers of the 6-pin connectors, but I do know that some Radio Shack stores have had them in the past. If you have access to a junkyard, that's your best bet--take your seatbelt cutter to take the jackets\wire ties off the bundles without damaging the wires, and plan to spend some time upside down on the front floor. The din cables are part of a huge wirinig bundle on the factory-installed units, and are probably left in the car more often than not, altho frequently the connector stub is cut off along with the harness connector if the disassembly is done hurriedly.
For the part of the new harness to plug into the original vehicle harness, I just went with one of the Crutchfield connector sets, and modified to suit my purposes.
When the bboard search facility is working again, check for posts from Krejci, Mastmann,Rothe, and Stoney re pinouts and general electronic knowledge. Whatever you do, if you are planning to keep the car for any length of time, get the factory wiring diagrams or sign up for ALLDATA DIY and print theirs. The wiring diagrams will save you a lot of grief!
