Crazy remote locks! 850

Check this out! it sounds crazy, but it really works. My '93 Volvo 850 has remote locks. For some reason the range stinks. I usually have to stand within 5 or 10 feet of the car for the remote to unlock the doors. However, the previous owner pointed this out to me, if I hold the remote under my chin while activating the remote, i will get much better range - about 40 feet! I thought she was nuts! but it really works! It seems that one's head works as an antenna. I thought that maybe the technique works because the remote is being held higher, but i've tried to hold the remote way above my head and that works no better than when i hold it hip-high. Do you have any idea why the remote works better when i activate it from under my chin?
