Roof strips peeling. How to replace? 850 1994

I agree with you...I've never seen them anywhere but the dealer and they are $70 a side ($140 for both sides) at the Volvo dealer here. You might be able to find some at a junk yard, but afraid they will be peeling too. I repaired mine twice before selling my car. The first time (which lasted over a year) was a simple repair and looked good. I used black electricians tape and just covered the strip. The next was like what is explained here...taking the plastic retainer clip off of the rear and gently pulling up on the strip, being careful not to bend it and snapping it off from the clips that hold it in place in the gully. After this, I used paint remover or stripper (a spray) and got all of the paint off, even sanding it in places, until the strip was shiny silver. Then after it dried, I spray painted it with a high temperature black paint. Both strips looked great until on the day my car was sold and they never came up in the discussion during the sale.
