Changer adapter for Alpine CHM-S600 850 1993

So, I've used the archive search on here for a myriad of things and it's always helped with whatever problem I have. Now I finally need to post 'cause I can't find a definitive answer:

I'm a bit confused. Does anyone have an experience with fitting an Alpine CHM-S600 up to an SC-810 head?

I've seen that the VOLALP adapter should work on M-Bus changers with 1990-95 Volvos. It specifically says the CHM-S601 will hook to the SC-810 using that adapter. I've also seen that other than disc speed, the CHM-S600 is the same as the CHM-S601. So, I would think that's my cable.

BUT ...

Periferal tech support says I need the VOLIL (which is for 96-2000 Vo's?). Incidentally, the VOLALP is $20 while the VOLIL is $100.

Anyways, can anyone confirm which cable will work?
