new 850 sedan 850 1993

I just purchased a used 850 with about 160M miles. The body looks great but, of course, there are some problems. There is a loud clunking sound from the right front side when going over bumps. The prior owner said that his mechanic said it was a bad strut that could be replaced for about $300. Does that sound right? Is this a DIYr project or one best left to a pro? Also, the driver's (power) seat back is reclined too far and will not move forward.

I am looking forward to a new project, but hope this one isn't too far gone. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
