New computer needed 850

I have been experiencing stalling on my 94 . My independent mechanic has replaced the rpm sensor and the fuel relay, Keeps getting error codes that the
rpm sensor is not working. They put in anoter one to see if it was the part,
but still getting the error codes. They think it may need a new computer, but
they do not have the dianostic equip to tell. I am going to have to go to a dealer. My hands are getting sweaty already thinking of what this will cost.
Has anyone had this done before and the cost?
