Thermostat replacment 850 1997

when I was doing mine it stripped too.. I didnt have time plus it was extremely cold (and my garage was too full) so I opted to get the indy mechanic to replace the bad one with a bolt.
In your case... d epending on mileage I would just leave. Chances are the thermostat wont fail for another 100k+ and the next torx bit will fail again due to fatigue.
