transmission replacement/carbon canister emissions 850

I just picked up my 93 850 from the dealer after they installed a rebuilt transmission. Last night I could hear a clunking noise from the front end of the car and pulled over to find a two piece black plastic canister attached to a metal bracket dragging the ground. This canister had two hoses attached to it and one is marked fuel line. Two people have told me this is the carbon canister for emissions and that it is possible that when they were installing the new transmission they had to move this piece and perhaps did not bolt it back in correctly. Does this sound right and will it hurt the car to drive it back to the dealer for them to put it back on ( a thirty mile trip)
