Transmission problems S60 2001

Occasionally my S60 (non turbo) will act like it popped out of gear or is slipping while driving. The engine revs high and the car slows down. I immediately let off the gas and press on it again, it seems to catch again after a second or two. It usually happens when I accelerate from a stop or accelerating out of a turn (i.e. stopped, then making a left turn at intersection or making a right turn without coming to a stop)

Any ideas out there?
