Sounds like you're looking at this on a used lot so you haven't had a chance to look inside the trunk yet?

Usually, those things are bolted right through the trunk lid. You should be able to find the bolts once you open the trunk. Those "pads" sandwiched in there should be seals, or gaskets, that prevent water from leaking in through the bolt holes.

Unfortunately, once you pull the spoiler off, you will end up with a couple (2? possibly 4?) bolt holes that will have to be filled and painted over.
