This may be more than you want to tackle, but here it is from the Haynes manual: If you have a '95 or later model the SIPS bag may be part of the Side Impact Protection System so you must take extra care in taking the front seat out. There are labels all over the car if it has SIPS. (By the way, here are the bolt torques when you are re-installing the seats...Front seat track to floor= 29 ft-lbs, front seat belt inertia reels= 39 ft-lbs, front seat belt lower mount to seat (must have a new bolt)= 14 ft-lbs, and rear seat belt lower mount 35 ft-lbs).
For Seats without SIPS:
Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (make sure you have the radio code before doing this). If the seat is fitted with a mechanical seat belt tensioner, turn the red button in front of the seat belt stalk so tht the arrow points across the belt tensioner (i.e. towards the side of the vehicle). Do not carry out any work on the seat unless the seat belt tensioner is locked. Remove the seat side compartment by releasing the forward edge and pushing backwards. Remove the bolt and remove the seat belt lower mount from the side of the seat. (The Haynes manual says that a new bolt has to be used when you reinstall the seat belt to floor...I suppose a safety measure). Move the seat forards. Remove the rear bolts too...they may be concealed in the trim covers. . Move the the seat rearwards. Remove any trim covers, then remove the single bolt from the front of each track. Disconnect the seat heater (if there is one) at the linkage, as well as the seat belt switch control unit wiring connectors if applicable (from under the seat cushion). Lift the seat upwards to release the front and rear guide pins then remove the seat from the vehicle. To install again, locate the seat over the guide pins, reconnect the wiring and insert the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque (listed above) in the following order: rear inner, front outer, front inner, rear outer. Install the bolt covers. Secure the seat belt lower anchorage using a new bolt tightened to the right torque. Install the side compartment. If the seat is equipped with a mechanical seat belt tensioner, turn the red button so that the arrow points forward to unlock the tensioner.
If your front seat has SIPS air bag:
First of all, use caution as there could be serious injury if the SIPS bag is triggered. Make sure the safety device (below) is installed and never apply pressure to the side of the seat. To remove, ensure that the ignition is switched off, then detach the negative battery cable. Remove the seat side compartment byy releasing the forward edge and pushing backwards. Remove the safety device from its holder in the side compartment and fit the safety device to the SIPS bag sensor unit on the side of the seat (looks like there is a self explanatory place it will go). Remove the bolt and remove the seat belt lower mount from the side of the seat. A new bolt will be required for a re-install. Move the seat forward. Remove the single bolt from the rear of each track...may be concealed by trim covers. Move the seat rearwards. Remove any trim covers, then remove the single bolt from the front of each track. Disconnect the seat heater, seat belt switch and control unit wiring connectors (if applicable) from under the seat cushion. Do not attempt to dismantle the sear or remove any of the SIPS bag components. To re-install, remove the safety device from the SIPS bag sensor unit and return it to its holder in the side compartment. Install the side compartment to the seat. Reconnect the battery's negative lead.
Carpets:
The passenger compartment floor carpet is in three sections; front left, front right and rear, and is secured at the sides by the front and rear sill trim panels (along the doors and outer periphery of the car). Carpet removal and installation is pretty much straight forward, but is very time consuming because of all of the adjoining trim panels which must first be removed, as well as the seats, center console and seat belt anchorages (rememer...new bolt to reinstall).
Center Console R&R:
Detach the battery's negative cable. Remove the 2 screws at the front and lift out the cigarette lighter panel. Disconnect the wiring at the lighter and remove the panel. Remove the screws securing the ashtray compartment and withdraw the compartment. Pull out the ashtray light bulb to remeove the whole compartment. Remove the 2 screws securing the console at the front. Apply the parking brake fully then carefully pry up the cover panel below the parking brake lever. On manual transaxle models, release the shift lever boot from the console first by disengaging the clips at teh rear. To do this insert your finger into the cover panel opening under the parking brake lever and push the clips up. Once the rear edge is released pry up the rest of the boot. Twist the boot onto its side and push it down the opening of the console. Open the rear storage compartment lid and pry up the covered panel in the compartment base. Remove the 2 screws now exposed. Disconnect the switch and illumination wiring connectors at the front of the console. Lift up the rear of the console and push it forward as far as it will go until the parking brake lever is clear. Move the console rearwards, disengage it from under the instrument panel a the front and remove it from the car. Installation is the above in reverse.
If you need info on how to get the rear seat out, just ask. I'm a fast typer and don't have to look at what I'm doing if I'm just copying from a book.
