'95 850 Starter/Solenoid/Ignition Problem 850 1995

Think my starters on its way out but want to check w/the experts as the archives seem to raise ignition switch issues for similar symptoms.

1995 850 Turbo 2.3, auto tranks, 72k

Symptoms are:
1. Slight delay (less than 1/2 second) from when ignition hits the 'start' position and the motor cranks. Just started this in the past week.
2. Starter motor stays engaged for a second after motor starts resulting in a metallic screech post startup.
3. Engine runs a little rough post startup for 10-15 secs then smooths out (may be completely unrelated).
4. This afternoon had first no-start. Click from under the hood but no start. All idiot lights, headlights, etc bright and steady. Tried to start several times to no avail. Waited a few minutes and tried again - started with the same delay/disengagment screech mentioned in 1 and 2 above.
5. Shut engine off to take other car and with key out of ignition, there was a 'humming/vibration' coming from front of engine, seemed to be originating under the the throttle pulley cover from one of the two valves under there. Not sure what they do but one is tied into the coolant line and another ties into the intake runners.
6. Ignition switch has a rough spot where the key hangs up a bit when rotating into the start position. Never caused any issue to date, but not 'smooth' like other vehicles.

The vibration in (5) could be due to starting the motor and shutting it right off. Don't think I've ever done that before so I can't confirm that this isn't normal to have one of these valves engaged for 20 secs or so post startup.

Thanks in advance for the assistance. I'll order the starter as I'm pretty sure that is the cause, but won't tear the old one out till I hear from more experienced folks.
